On a recent afternoon members of the Shannon Golf Club met at the Club house to do honour to their esteemed secretary and treasurer, Mr A. H. Morgan. Mr J. T. Bovis, the president, reminded members that the present progressive club was the result of Mr Morgan’s initiative some 13 years ago, when he called a meeting of all interested in the game and accepted the position of secretary and treasurer to the newly-formed club, which he had occupied ever since. Many changes in playing fields and members had taken place during that period but Mr Morgan had unceasingly taken the lion’s share of the work, thus relieving each succeeding president of any worry. In asking the guest of honour to accept a handsome leather golf bag, Mr Bovis said, “You have carried out your duties with honour to yourself and credit to your club and I trust you will be spared for many more years of . service to the Shannon Golf Club.”

In reply Mr Morgan said he had never looked upon his service to the club as “work.” It had always been a pleasure to be associated with such a keen body of members and he deeply appreciated the kindness which had prompted such an acceptable gift.
