Announcement of British Delegation
TO WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. STATEMENT BY MR MacDONALD British Official Wireless. RUGBY, May 18. The names of the British delegation •to the ' .Economic Conference were am mounced by the Prime Minister in the House of Commons to-day. He said that t£e members would be himself, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Chamberlain), the War Secretary (Lord Hailsham), the Foreign Secretary (Sir -John Simon), the Dominions Secretary (Mr. J. H. Thomas), the Colonial Secretary (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister), the president of the Board of Trade (Mr. JBunciman), and the Minister of Agriculture (Major Elliot). Mr. MacDonald added that as president of the Conference he would be unable to attend meetings of the United delegation regularly, and the •Chancellor of the Exchequer would therefore act as leader of the delegation. The extra cost of holding the Conference in London instead of at Geneva will be borne by the British Government. Sir John Simon mentioned to--day that for this purpose £18,500 had been included in the Foreign Office Tote, while the cost of adapting the new Geological Museum building to accommodate the Conference was estimated at £7500.
