WAIRARAPA FLOODS.
SERIOUS DAMAGE TO PROTECTIVE WORKS MASTERTON, Last Night. The flood waters in the lower valley are gradually receding but it is not expected that some of the properties will be clear again for several weeks. Other will be back at normal in much shorter time. The water is still over the lower Kahutara road. The most serious phase of the flood at the moment, said Mr. A. D. McLeod, M.P., was the damage to the river protection works at Tawaha and Ahiakoura. These have suffered severely and upon his represehtations the Minister of Lands had agreed to an immediate inspection being carried out.
