SAFE-OPBHEE3 Received Monday, 9.50 p.m. CHICAGO, Sept. 5. , One of the most sensational lucrative crimes of recent years was perpetrated a group of expert safe-openers, who tunnelled into the real estate offices of Koch and Company and escaped with one million dollars after holding two families, in an adj pining house, prisoner for over fourteen hours on Saturday afternoon on the pretext that they were officers. The robbers entered an adjoining house and then casually brought in acetylene torches and other equipment. They bored through the walls and to the vault. From the office in the vault, using the Company’s index as a guidb, they systematically looted some 350 safety deposit boxes, taking only cash and ignoring the securities and jewellery, throwing these carelessly about. Owing to the number of bank failures some time ago, residents in the vicinity had utilised the boxes to keep their cash.
