YOUTH’S FLIPPANT POSE.

WORLD A LITTLE TIRED OF IT

“I think the world is getting a little tired of the flippant pose of youth, the •disrespect of youth for its elders, its .irreverence of things its elders hold sacred,' ’ said Archdeacon H. W- Mona■ghan, of Timaru, in the course of an address at the Youth for Youth Campaign rally in the Wellington Town Hall yesterday. ** I* put it to you," he said, ‘'that the old order is better. You cannot dead to greatness except on reverence and obedience." Archdeacon Monaghan said he could •not understand the attitude of certain people to-day who asserted that they had no betters, that all men are equal. “I am constantly meeting people I want to take off my hat to,. ’' he continued. ‘‘l am constantly encountering in my studies the wisdom of men an whose presence I must be silent lest 1 should speak as a fool. In my parish work I meet people whose courage and deeds make me want to go down on my knees in humility before Cod. i ,‘Young man, if you feel you have no betters, then I say to you that you are a coxcomb and a fool." All the teachings of the new psycho- 1 logy and philosophy could not shake the,j old faith: absolute chastity for those who were not -married and-. absolqt&, fidelity for those who were, said Archdeacon Monaghan in referring to the morality problems faced by modefrn youth. ‘ ‘ The old folks were not all fools, fie proceeded.
