LEVIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

MONTHLY MEETING.

Tie February meeting of the Levin Chamber of Commerce was held at the Regent Theatre room on Monday evening. The President, Mr S. R. Stedman, occupied the chair, and there were also present Messrs N. M. Thomson, E. S. Crisp, D. P. Todd, W. Da.vie, A. Billens, P. W. Goldsmith, J. Harvey, 11. G. Xerslake, W. G. Clark, X. Aitken, E. E. Hirst, C. Blenkhorn and F, P. Walkley.

The Foxton Chamber of Commerce wrote inviting the Chamber to send a delegate to a meeting of representatives of Chambers of Commerce, etc., to be held in Palmerston on February, 11th. —The President said that as attendance would have necessitated the delegate staying in Palmerston over night no one could be found to attend from Levin.

The secretary of the Levin District High School Committee wrote' thanking the Chamber for its donation of a medal for the primary boy obtaining the highest marks during the year, and advising that it was awarded to Robert Meddings.

The Associated Chambers of Commerce wrote stating it intended if permitted to tender evidence to the National Econocy Commission set up by the Government as urged by the Associated Chambers. Enquiry was made as to whether there were any special representations which the Levin Chamber would like to have made to the Commission.

The President extended a heartywelcome to Mr Hirst, the Postmaster and expressed the hope that he would, frequently attend meetings of the Chamber.

Mr Hirst sincerely thanked the Predent and members for their cordial greetings. It gave him great pleasure to be present and he trusted the relations between the Post Office and the Chamber would continue to be of as happy a nature as they appeared to have been. He would be pleased to dowhatever he could to support the objects of the Chamber, and he remarked that, while he had heard glowing accounts of Levin and the district before he came here, these were fully borne out by what he had experienced since his arrival.
