CLOSING SMALL SCHOOLS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON,. Thursday. A definite assurance as to the fate of small schools w r as received from the Minister of Education to-day by the Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union. The Hon. Mr Masters said in reply to a request for information, that the only schools it was proposed to close were the very small grade of schools, those with an enrolment of less than six pupils, but m one of these would be closed before all the circumstances were considered and then only when it was evident the pupils would receive better education through the Correspondeuce School. The reply was regarded as satisfactory.
