POLITICAL CANDIDATES.
MR C. A. HUNTER LABOUR CHOICE FOR MANAWATIi).
Owing to ill-health, Mr Ben Roberts, the well-known Wairarapa fanner, whose Labour candidature for the Mauawatu electorate was previously announced, recently tendered his resignation. In consequence- of this a meeting of branches of the Mauawatu Labour Representation Committee was held at Foxton during the week-end. In all 80 delegates were present, and Mr C. H. Hunter, of Wellington, was unanimously selected as the official Labour candidate for the Mauawatu seat. Mr Hunter is a young married man and a native of Nelson, where he received his education. He is at present employed on the Wellington tramways. PAHIATUA ELECTORATE. MAYOR OF DANNEVIRKE AS POSSIBLE REFORM CANDIDATE. Yesterday the chairman of the Danncvirke Reform committee (Mr H. A. Ellin gham) was informed by Mr Marcus I). Smith, Mayor of Dannevirke, that he would accept nomination as the official Reform candidate for the Pahiatua seat, provided his candidature was acceptable to the party. Mr M. D. Smith, who is a son of the late Hon. W. E, .Smith, is a returned soldier and is actively associated with the various sports bodies in and around Dannevirke.
