FORMING A CABINET.

EVENTS MOVING QUICKLY IN SPAIN. GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS. R<*!feivcd Wednesday, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, Feb. IS. Fortified with supplies of food in readiness for a night-long sitting, Madrid Monarchist leaders, including Berenguer (presiding), the Duke ox Maura, Count Romanones, Seniors Garcia Prieto and La Cierva assembled in the early evening at the War Ministry. After a sitting lasting five hours, Berenguer, being unwell, Senor Wais, as senior Minister, went to the palace to report to King Alfonso. Prieto stated that all present had decided to place themselves at the disposal of the King. No Government was formed, but members of the conference offered their services should His Majesty care to accept them. Romanones said that not all the members of the conference be members of the new Cabinet. He could only say that to-morrow there would be a new Government. "We shall call the Constituent Assembly to meet again the War Ministry and settle matters,” he said. It is thought probable that Beren guor will be Prime Minister and it is expected Romanones will be a member of the Cabinet. It had been intended to give the Premiership to La Cierva, but the'plan was abandoned because it is understood the workers would have called a general strike, orders for which, it is believed, had already been given. It is believed the end of the crisis is in sight and that a list of the new Cabinet is ready for presentation to King Alfonso. Romanones told the British United Press special correspondent that it •urns practically certain that Cabinet would bo sworn in later to-day. It is said members of conference decided to call the Constituent Assembly to revise the constitution without limiting the powers of King Alfonso as stringently as previously proposed. Admiral Aznar is likely to be Premier if Berenguer is unwilling or not chosen. STRIKE OFF. Received Wednesday. 7.5 p.m. MADRID, Feb. 18. The revolutionary committee has ad journed the strike. KING AND QUEEN CHEERED. Received Wednesday, S.lO p.m. MADRID, Feb. 18. King Alfonso sprang another surprise by meeting Queen Ena at the station. About five hundred people, mostly highly placed, awaited the Queen on the platform. The King’s arrival in morning dross accompanied by his twfl daughters Avas entirely unexpected and created wild excitement. King Alfonso smiled and waved his silk hat to the crowd. When he saw Queen Ena, who was on the verge of tears, he took her in his arms, hugged and kissed her. By a strange contrast, not more than twenty persons were in the station courtyard, but as they drove unescorted through the streets to the palace thousands of people cheered their Majesties who came out on the balcony and acknowledged the continued applause.
