Freer Sale of Store Sheep FATS IRREGULAR CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Entries at the weekly market at Addington to-day were heavy in all the major sections with the exception of fat cattle and the sale generally was Arm. The one only actual advance on late rates was in the fat cattle section in which best beef advanced a full £1 a head and ordinary beef correspondingly less. Store sheep: A good collection of lambs were offered particularly open wool sorts. The sale was a freer one with values a little advanced. Adult sheep included 1200 ewes from Gisborne and there was a fairly steady sale with no apparent change in values. Gisborne ewes reached 14s 3d. Values were: Good rape lambs 10s to 11s Id; medium rape lambs, 8s 3d to 9s 7d; ordinary rape lambs, Gs to Ss; small and backward lambs 3s to 5s Gd; good wether lambs, 6s 6d to 8s 6d; good ewe lambs to 8s; backward ewe lambs, 4s 10s to 5s 3d; extra good two-tooth Romney ewes to 14s 4d; good twotooth Romney ewes, 12s 9d to 13s 2d; medium two-tooth Romney ewes to 10s 6d; good 6 and S-tooth Romney ewes 6s 9d to 8s 6d; sound-mouthed Romney ewes, 3s Gd to 4s; ordinary two-tooth crossbred ewes to 8s; good 6 and 8tooth halfbred ewes, Gs to 8s; aged owes to Is 7d; good Romney cross wethers to 7s 8d; good halfbred wethers to 7s lOd; backward halfbred wethers to 4s 3d. Fat lambs: An entry of 4809 met with a firm sale without alteration on prime lambs to 18s 4d; prime lambs 15s Gd to IGs Gd; medium lambs 13s 6d to 255; light lambs 10s Gd to 13s; store lambs 8s Gd to 10s. Fat sheep: There was an entry of 5000 head and the sale was irregular but prices were on par with those of Last week. Export buyers operated on a now schedule of to Id for ewes and lid to 24d for wethers. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers to 17s 7d; prime heavy wethers 15s to IGs Gd; medium wethers 13s to 15s; second quality wethers 9s to 12s Gd; light wethers 6s Gd to Ss Gd; ex prime ewes to 13s 4d; prime owes 10s to 11s Gd; medium ewes 8s to 9s Gd; light ewes 5s Gd to 7s Gd; aged ewes 3s Gd to ss, Pat Cattle: A yarding of 318 head was made. Choice heavy beef made 32s to 35s lOOlbs; best medium weight beef made from 30s to 34s lOOlbs.; plain heavy beef from 25s Gd to 295; cow beef 23s to 2Gs Gd; secondary beef from 19s to 225; and rough down to' 15s. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers to £l6 17s Gd; heavy steers £l2 to £l4 15s; prime medium weight steers £8 10s to £11; medium quality steers £G 15s to £8; light steers to £6 ss; extra prime heifers to £ll 17s Gd; prime heifers £S to £lO ss; medium heifers £4 15s to £7 10s; light heifers to £4 10s; extra prime cows to £lO 12s Gd; prime cows £7 10s to £9 15s; medium cows £4 10s to £7; light and aged cows to £4. Voalcrs: The entry of vealers was a largo one but the quality was very mixed. Butchers sorts sold at late rates and the top price was £5 13s Gd, Store cattle: A poor entry and no straight lines came forward. Two-year-old steers sold up to £4 7s Gd, 18months steers up to £2 10s; 15 months mixed calves up to £1; fresh cows up to £4 10s, and potting bulls up to £5. J>airy Cattle: The yarding of dairy cattle was an average one and the quality was very indifferent. There was a slight easing in values for secondary sorts but anything promising held late rates. Values were: Good second and third culvers £9 to £10; medium sorts £7 10s to £8 ss; aged and inferior sorts £2 5s to £5 15s; good wethers £8 15s to £l2; medium heifers £2 10s to £8; others £5 5s to £7. Fat pigs: The entry of fat pigs was larger than last week and once again it was ijiade up mainly of West Coast and North Island consignments. The market was about on a par with last week. Values were: Choppers £2 5s to £5 IGs; baconers 17s to 575; heavy baconers £3 to £3 Gs Gd. (average price per pound 4Jd to 54d); porkers, 35s to 38s; heavy porkers 39s to 44s (average price per pound 51d to 64d). Store pigs: There was a very small yarding of store pigs and a Little alteration in prices. Values were: Weaners 9s to 12s; extra good to 18s; slips I4s to IGs; small stores ISs to 225; larger stores to 30s.
