Switched-on Electric Iron Causes Fire in Shop
MASTEETON, Last Night. An electric iron which was left s\vitched-on was the cause of a fire tonight in the shop of Mr. G. Mclvor. draper, Queen street, Masterton. The fire was discovered by the next door tenant, Mr, W. G. Perry, gramophone dealer. The brigade quickly had the outbreak suppressed but not before considerable damage was done to Mr, Mclvor ’s new stock, which had arrived only that day. Some of the stock in the shop suffered through smoke and water, that of Mr. Perry also suffering slightly in that manner. The insurances were not available. The building, a one-storey wooden structure, was owned by Mrs. Mary Rue. -
