PROGRAMME NOTES The main portion of XTA’s pro■gramme this evening will be given by the Birkenhead Municipal Band, under

the direction of Lieutenant .T. T. Lighten. This batid, composed mainly of young players, ds steadily making a name for itself in Auckland, and this will be its first radio broadcast. A new vocalist will also appear in the person of Mr, S. Hislop, a young bassbaritone, who will sing '‘Drake Goes West,’ ‘Tally Ho!’ and ‘Aylesbury Ducks.’ Air. J. F. Montague will give further humorous sketches from his extensive repertoire, and Mr. William Leo Benbow, who has often appeared at 2FC Sydney, will be heard in vocal numbers, accompanied by the Spanish guitar. The vocalists for 3YA’s programme will be Mrs. Graham Jamieson (mezzocontralto), Mr. Syd. Andrews (tenor) and Mr. Fred A. Bullock (baritone), while elocutionary items will be given by Miss Dorothy Jcnkin. The instrumental portion of the programme will be provided by Miss Lucy Fullwood (pianist) and the Studio Octet. The whole concert will provide an entertainment of a high standard. The Novelty Syneopators will add their share of brightness to 4Y r A’s concert. Numerous popular melodies played by them will intersperse the programme. There will also be piano novelties by Mr. J. *M. Wilson, while Messrs. J. McCaw and T. Law will play a saxophone duct, ‘ Slip ’n ’ Sax. ’ The vocal portion of the programme will be contributed by Miss T. C. Blackman (mozzo-sonrano), Miss D. Youd (contralto) and Mr. D. Wrathall. Mr. A. Gorrie will give a lecture-recital, ‘Twelve Minutes with Kipling.’ , This afternoon the home science talk from 4YA will be on ‘Salads.’ From IYA, 2YA and 3YA to-morrow afternoon a home science talk on ‘Meatless Meals’ will be broadcast.
