Smith and Shiers Land 30 Miles from Bangkok
WING BROKEN IN FORCED DESCENT. Received' Sunday, 7 p.m. MELBOURNE, April 27. A message from Bangkok states that Smith and Shicirs were forced down in rough country 30 miles from the Siamese capital. The men were unhurt hut a wing was brovvon an'd the flight may be abandoned. The plane was unable to take oil i'ully loaded from Singora, on the Malay oast coast, owing to the aerocrome's limited space. It therefore had to start with a minimum load, which proved insufficient to reach Bangkok.
