DIED BEFORE INHERITING A MILLION.
DANISH PRINCE WHO WAS GREAT SCIENTIST. DISCOVERER OF NESTORIAN MONUMENT. (Received This Day, 8.50 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 10. An attorney undertook the pleasant task, to-day, of informing Prince FitzWilhelm Holm that he had inherited a million sterling, but upon arriving at the Prince’s hotel, the lawyer learned that the Prince had died half an hour before, from double pneumonia. Holm was born at Copenhagen, Denmark, 49 years ago, and served King Nicholas, of Montenegro. Perhaps the outstanding of the Prince's jremarkable career was the finding, in a remote part of China, of the famous Nestorian monument, erected in A.D. 781 to commemorate the arrival of Christian missionaries in the sixth and seventh centuries. The Prince was the holder of 40 decorations, and was a member of 32 scientific societies and the Royal Academies of 13 kingdoms.
Holm never wore an overcoat —an eccentricity which probably induced his fatal illness.
