M.C.C. TO PLAY MANAWATU.

MATCH AT PALMERSTON THIS ■JTEEK.

Tho Marylebone cricket team is to play Manawatu at Palmerston on Friday and Saturday this week. At a meeting of tho Manawatu Association last night, the selector Mr A. M. Ongley forwarded the names of the team, excluding himself and suggesting another player as captain, in order that the younger players should have an opportunity of meeting the Englishmen. Tho general opinion of the members, however, was that the team needed an experienced leader, and that the Hawke ,Cup had only been retained by the effords of Mr Ongley. He had proved his worth as a batsman, bowler and loader and it was only right that he should be included in the eleven. After some consideration, the selector decided to fall in with the wish of the .members and the following team was announced:— A. M. Ongley, captain (P.); A. Me Vicar (P-), W. Norris (P.), N. Gallichan (P.), P. Broughton (R.S. A.), L. Pacey (O.E„), J Greig (O.B.), A. Cutler (H.S.), H. Baiunber (Horowhenua), L. Spring O.B.); M. O’Keefe (.O.B.), E. Fletcher (O-B.)
