INAUGURAL MEETING OF DAIRY COUNCIL.

AMALGAMATED DAIRIES POLICY IS EXPOUNDED DAIRY BOARD REVISION. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The first meeting of the Now Zealand Dairy Council was hold to-day 47 companies being represented. Mr Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the Amalgamated Dairies Ltd., presided. There were also present Mi AV. Goodfellow and Messrs VV. Crounds. J. R. Corrigan and .1. Dunlop, members of the Dairy Board and I he chairmen of 47 butter and cheese producing com panics from all part of the Dominion whose produce is being handled b\ A'lualgamated Dairies Lid. The total quantity of produce n-pre seated by the gathering was valued a! £0,500,0(H). The tonnage of produce amounted to butter, I! 1,000 tons; cheese, 11,000 tons. The .Mayor (Mr G. A. Brechin were elected. To represent the South Island, Mr ,T. Fisher was elected by 11 votes to 9 cast for Mr 0. T. McCallum. It was unanimously resolved: “That this Dairy Council supports and encourages the gradual development of the principle of free trade within the Km pi re. “That the Government be asked to proliihii.
