BOWLING.
TRIANGULAR SHIELD CONTEST. The first round of. the Triangular Shield contest was played on the Levin green on Wednesday, when the four home rinks put up a good showing, winning their four games, and in some instances with a large margin of points. Light rain interfered with play at intervals throughout the afternoon, and towards the close, heavy rain fell, two of the games being finished under uncomfortable conditions.
The aggregates arc as follow: Levin, four rinks . . 103 points Shannon, two rinks .. 27 points Foxton, two rinks .. 27 points The rinks and scores are as follow, Levin being mentioned first in each instance:— * Crips, Parker, Monks, Hawke (s; 28; Shannon: Aim, Hook, Butt, Bovis (s) 14. Pink, von Hartitzsch, Pyke, Bull (s) 21; Shannon: Moynihan, Grey, Clayton, Knowles (s) 13. Routley, Brown, J. D, Brown, Suhan (s) 23; Foxton: Hinds, Walker, Woods, Thomson (s) 15. Smaill, Cameron, Challies, Clements (s) 31; Foxton: Scadden, Huntley, Mattar, Christie (s) 12. It was decided at the completion of play to hold the next round at Shannon. o,n Wednesday next.
