CAMPAIGN AGAINST CANCER.

METHOD OF ORGANISATION DEVELOPED. CENTRAL CONTROL, WITH EQUAL REPRESENTATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The adjourned meeting cf the Now Zealand Cancer Campaign Committee took place yesterday, to consider changes in the rules, as suggested by Auckland. Dr. Elliott (President) said that the principal matter at issue was whether there should be a central controlling body or whether each division should have complete autonomy. The parent body in the Old Country hold that there should be central control in such matters, to prevent overlapping' and loss of efficiency in research, work. The principal if equal representation of divisions was generally approved, and it was decided to recommend an alteration of the rules so as to provide that three delegates should be appointed oa the central committee by each division. The Mayors of the four chief cities and the chairmen of the four chief Hospital Boards are to be ex-officio members of the committee. Deputy delegates are to be appointed when necessary. Mr Shirtcliffo asked if, in view of the rules, the Auckland, people would desire complete autonomy. Dr. Elliott said that if the representative would go back to Auckland and explain that the constitution of the central committe had been altered to meet Iheir desire for equal representation of divisions, Auckland would come into line; if not it would be a groat pity, as Auckland would cut itself oil from the Imperial Cancer Campaign and lose all the prestige and inspiration to bo derived from the association of the movement.

The Auckland delegate said that they would put the considerations before the Auckland people. They felt confident that whatever misunderstanding might have existed would bo cleared up.
