ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was held on Wednesday night when the Rev. li. Crocket presided over a good attendance of members and friends, some who had come from as far as Otaki. The session report was submitted by the ClerK Mr W. Davie, which showed steady progress and regret that their minister, the Itev. R. Crocket, had to resign owing to the stress of the work. Reference was made to his splendid pulpit ministrations and work, especially in establishing a cause in Otaki. Mr A. Boaley read the Managers' report and the financial statement showed that the congregation was "never in such a healthy condition. Over £I2OO lias passed through the hands of-the Treasurer. The Church property was all in -excellent order. ihe Sunday School report, given by the Superintendent (Mr J. W. Bishop), showed that the School was serving the needs of the children, the income being in the neighbourhood of £o9. The Ladies' Giuld and P.W.M'.U,, also the Busy Bees' reports mentioned that good work had been accomplished during the year, over £l3O being gathered in from various sources, a part of which goes to Home and Foreign missions. The Maori Birthday League had a membership of about 65. Managers for the ensuing year resulted in the retiring managers being re-elected, with the addition of two new members, Messrs Ryrie and Falloon; During the evening the Session Clerk, on behalf of the congregation, presented the departing minister with a beautiful address signed by members and adherents, along with a pocket book containing a wallet of notes, lie also made fitting reference to the work carried on by the minister and his wife during their stay in Levin, Others spoke in similiar strain. Cr. Falloon spoke as a representative of the town and emphasised the good work done and the influence of the work in building up character. Mr Thorpe, treasurer of Otaki charge, gave a brief account of the work in his town and. said that it was the Rev. R. Crocket's steady spade work that made possible the erection of a Presbyterian Ghurch in Otaki and asked him to accept a travelling rug and a cushion for Mrs Crocket as a mark of esteem from the Otaki people. Miss Nichol, on behalf of the Senior Bime class, made a neat little speech on the faithful service their minister had rendered as leader and asked him to accept the gift of a. set of gold sleeve I links suitably inscribed and not to look upon its intrinsic value but in the spirit in which it was given. A beautiful duet was rendered by Mesdames Jennings and Ince, after which the ladies dispensed a dainty supper bringing to a close a very successful gathering. —■ (Contributed).
