LADIES’ GOLF.

ANNUAL MEETING OF LEVIN PLAYERS. The annual meeting of lady members of the Levin Golf Club (Inc.), was held at the residence of Mrs Smaiil on Monday,. November 2dtli, with a good attendance, Mrs W. M. Clark, being in the chair. The secretary’s report was read, ns follows: — “The'l929 season was late in starting, owing to the phenomenal growth of grass and the rinks could not be opened till Saturday, March 23rd. Mixed foursomes were followed by the distribution of trophies and prizes. The fairways being still very rough, competitions did not start till June 22nd, and owing to the curtailed season, and the number of trophies to be played for, it was deemed advisable by the committee to forego the Heatherlca Handicap Cup, on the understanding that it will be played for again during the 1930 season, when a much longer playing period may reasonably bo expected. “Matches, which were disappointingly few owing to bad weather, sickness, etc., were as follows: Juno otli, Palmerston North at Levin, a draw,: June 7th, Poxton at Levin, a win for Levin, live games to two. The return match played at Palmerston on September 13th resulted in a loss to Levin, no game being won. “Handicaps.—Daring the season two players re-entered the “A’’ Division. Many in the “B” Division reduced considerably, and several who had lost their handicaps owing to the alteration in the par of the links, regained them.

First Stroke Competition for those without handicaps. —Miss All lues. Second Stroke Competition for those without handicaps.—Mrs Sherwood and Mrs Hosie tied.

“Funds in hand now,, amount to £4 17s 2d, competition fees collected. Several members again donated prizes and the thanks of the Club are due to them, also to Mrs Brown for her unfailing kindness in the matter of taking charge of tea and looking after the comfort of members and visitors.’’ At the conclusion of the report, the election of Committee and o Ulcer a for the 1.930 season was proceeded with, the results being as follows: Captain. —Four members being proposed, a ballot was taken resulting in the election of Airs Mackenzie.
