SPRING FLOWER SHOW
TO-MORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING-.
The groat spring feature of the year, the annual Flower Show under the'auspices of St. Mary’s Guild, will take" Mace in tho Century Hall, Levin, tomorrow, being open to tho public from 1.45 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Although the season is a backward one, many growers, have by careful attention to their gardens, produced blooms •of excellent substance, and in all classes of early spring flowers a high standard of quality may be looked forward to. The sections into "which the Show is divided are: Decorative classes, comprising bowls, baskets, vases, posies, and decorated tables —all very attractive features of this exhibition; cut flowers, including such delicate harbingers of the vernal season as free zias, hyacinths, primroses and violets —blossoms which can bo grown to perfection in this district; narcissi, covering tho main varieties, known as Trumpets, Ineomparabilis, Barrii, and Leeds!!, and including a class of six varieties of narcissi for exhibitors who have never won ! a prize; and finally, classes for girls under 17—comprising vase of flowers, three buttonholes, and
posy. Mr Frank Mason, of Foil ding, will judge the cut flowers and bulbs; and the judging of the decorative classes will be done by Mrs .Rasmussen, florist, of Wanganui. Three stalls for the sale of goods will bq qouducted—a produce stall, work stall, and sweets stall. Xu conjunction with the produce stall, a competition will be held for the best; sponge : andwieh, entries for which must be staged by 2 o’clock. The official opening c f the .Show will lie performed by Mr J. Mu..later, at 3.30 p.m.
