TEAMS’ WELCOME HOME.
INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The Southland Rugby football team, holders of the Kanfurly Shield, and the Southland ladies’ hockey team, winners of the Gup at the Dominion tournament, were accorded a most enthusiastic reception by a large crowd on their return this evening. Three bands were in attendance at the station and there was a great demonstration when the train drew into the plat form. The teams were taken through cheering crowds to the rotunda in the Post Ollice Square', where they were ollicially welcomed by the Mayor (Mr J. GCampbell) and officials of the Rugby Union, the Ladies’ Hockey Association and the Boxing Association.
