THIS WEEK’S RECIPE.
BANBURY CAKES. Take 2oz. butter, 2oz. brown sugar, 3oz. bread crumbs, j-lb. currants, loz. candied peel, one teaspoon cinnamon, grated nutmeg. Melt the butter and sugar in a saucepan. Take it off the fire and stir in the other ingredients. Roll some puff paste out thin, spread the mixture on, and cover it with paste. Mark into strips with a blunt knife. When cold cut into squares.
