ANOTHER GRAFTON BRIDGE JUMP.
EX-FOOTBALLER SERIOUSLY INJURED. (By Telegraph —Press Association). AUCKLAND, This Day. ' Joseph Otway, aged 02, formerly a well-known Auckland rep. Rugby piayer, 1887-1898, and recently employed as a blacksmith, plunged over the, Grafton Bridge at 10.31) this morning and fell into the gully 150 ft. below, sustaining spinal injuries from which he is not expected to recover. When picked up he said, “ijL am sorry to put you to this trouble. 1 have been working hard all my life and wanted to end it. I had two drinks just to get m'y blood up.i lie was one of the best centre forwards Auckland has had for a number of years. He was on the shore staff of the Kaipara Steamship Co., at Ilelensville. Otway is a widower with a large family.
