JEWISH REPLY TO ARAB ALLEGATIONS.
NOT A SINGLE ACT OF .REPRISAL KNOWN

The Jewish National Council at Jerusalem, in replying to the Arab executive's rejoinder to the High Commissioner's proclamation of September 3, in reference to the allegation that the Government armed the Jews, declares that if the Jews at Hebron and Safel had been armed, they would not have been slaughtered like sheep without firing a shot. The truth is that thousands of Arabs came on August 23, allegedly to pray but they were armed with, knives and these were publicly distributed through the streets of Jerusalem. Jews in certain parts of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa used the first arms within their reach but only for self-defence, thereby saving those in other places from destruction. It is impossible to point to one Jevrish attack on an Arab village or settlement, the violation of Arab women,- or arson, loot or robbery on the part of the Jews, whereas the Arabs have petrated these offences wholesale. Numerous Arabs were captured or killed while engaged therein. There is even a case of Arabs killing each other, in quarrelling over a division of the booty.
