BROKE A WINDOW.
EXCITEMENT AT OTAKI RAILWAY. A man named Qarth Davis, aged 35 years, a stranger to the district, caused a commotion at Otaki Railway on Sunday, when he deliberately broke a window of the Railway Hotel by throwing two large stones. The accused, who pleaded guilty to the charge of doing damage to the extent of 30s, stated that he had been refused a meal by the proprietor, and in return went outside ?ind threw stones with the result mentioned. Others had, he added, been /given a meal. He had had no drink, Wng perfectly sober, and was out of employment. ' Constable Carran stated that when the accused was locked up he showed no signs of drink.. ' Accused, who was quite frank in nis statements, was sentenced to f°urtee» days' imprisonment.
