WIND CAUSES FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION LINE.
POVERTY BAY USING STAND-BY
PLANT,
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBQKNE, This Day.
The Government transmission line between the Waikaromoana powerhouse ana Gisborne failed yesterday apparently owing to high winds causing the line to swing and jump the insulator, burning through the crossanh and dragging down the next set of poles. The trouble apparently affects two or three miles of transmission line, and may take three days to repair. In the meantime Poverty Bay draws its electrical supply from the Gisborne stand-by plant.
