CANON HEAD TO BE ARCHBISHOP OF MELBOURNE. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. It is officially announced by the Diocesan authorities that Canon Head, of Liverpool Cathedral, has accepted the Archbishopric of Melbourne. .
The Rev. Frederick Waldegravc Head, who was born in 1874, had a brilliant career at various, schools, and became a Fellow and Lecturer in History at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, i» *I9OO. He was ordained in 1902, and became a senior tutor and chaplain in 1907. From 1917 to 1919 he was senior-chaplain to the Guards Division, and earned the Military Cross and bar. In 1922 he Avas appointed Chaplain to His Majesty. He was Vicar of Christ Church, Greenwich, from 1922 to 192(5, and in the latter year became Canon and Sub-Dean of Liverpool Cathedral. He Avas married in 1904, and has one son.
