COMEDIAN’S EXIT.

The death has occurred of the comedian, Malcolm Scott, brother of Admiral ;J!ir Percy Seo'tt. He appeared during the greater part of his career as “A Woman Who Knows.” GENERAL J. M|. GORDON DEAD. The deceased officer was the fourth son of the late Carlos Gordon, of Aber--deenshire, and was born in 1856. He joined the Royal Artillery in 1876, and raised the Permanent Artillery in South Australia in 1882. He served •with distinction in the South African War, and from 1902 to 1905 was Commandant of the Military Forces in
Victoria. He held a similar position in New South Wales from 1905 to ,1912, and in the latter year became <Chief of the General Staff in the Commonwealth. In the Great War he commanded the 92nd Brigade in 1914-15 •and the 10th Reserve Division in 191516. In the following year he was chief inspector of the Scottish filling factories, and in 1919 he was with the Army of Occupation at Cologne. General Joseph Gordon invented a system uof safety traffic-control signals.
