News has beta received that Dr. Leonard Cockayne has been made a foreign member of the Royal Society of Science and Belles-lettres of Gothenburg, Sweden. A cable from Perth to-day announces the death of the Archbishop of Perth (Dr. Charles Owen Riley). Dr. Riley was 75 years of age- He was a son of the Rev. L. W. Riley, of Knuisford, and was Vicar of St. Paul’s, Preston, England, from 1885 to 1894, when he was appointed Bishop of Perth. His diocese covered an area of 84,000 square miles in West Australia.
