CHILDREN’S PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS PARTY.

A PLEASANT EVENING. Despite threatening weather conditions and minor counter attractions, the. atlendanco at tin Children's Plain and Fancy Dress Party on Tuesday last was immensely gratifying to those who had worked si- hard and indefatiguably tor the success of the evening. A pleasant surprise also was the number of children who appeared in fancy dress. >So effectively were the various characters carried out that it was indeed a difficult proposition for the judges, Mrs Kobinson (Mangaore) and -Mrs Gettins (Levin). As one of thee ladies re.uaikcd, ''They aie all so uretty I wish I could give each one a prize." However, the decisions gave general satisfaction-and to those two ladies the committee tender their warmest thanks. PRIZE LIST. The prize list was as follows:

Judge’s Special Award. —Girl, Bay Richardson, “Bride”; Boy, Bill Ellwood, “Why Did I Kiss That Girl.” Special Prize for mother present with most children iii fancy* dress. — Awarded to Airs A. K. Saxon, four children. Prize donated by Messrs Clarke Bros. Levin.

The hall was very tastefully decorated and with the many colours worn by girls and boys, the scene was a gay one. Air Bovis and Air P. Cole acted as AI.C. ’s, ably assisted by Mr Cronquest with song and story. Delightful music, was supplied byMrs Butler assisted by Air Aiason which added greatly to the enjoyment of the evening. The committee wish to thank all those who donated prizes for the children, also the mothers and others who provided supper, thus assisting greatly, the Shannon Girl Guido movement for which funds are so essential.
