ENGLISH ENGINEERS ASK WAGE INCREASE
TIME WORKERS GET £3. I EMPLOYERS POSTPONE . EIGHTEENTH MEETING. Australian Press Association. Received Thursday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, June 20. A conference of engineering employers ami workers concerning the application for an increase of eight shillings weekly for time Avorkers, Avhosc wage at.present is £3, with a corresponding increase for piece rates, broke down. The men's executive Avill meet on July 25 to consider the position. The employers asked for an adjournment until the end of the year, on the ground it was not known what new .burdens the Labour government would impose on industry. The trade union representatives disagreed,, also pointing out this was the eighteenth conference which had been hold without result.
