POLICEMEN ON THE RUN.
CHASED BY CHINESE ARMED WITH CHOPPERS. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Dav, P. 35 a.m.) M ELBOUR-NE, This Day. After raiding; a suspected Chinese opium den in Listeniwick, (hmsiabb's Raker and Clagstou were chased by several Chinese armed with axes and choppers. Mo threatening was their attitude that the police were lorced to give ground' and take to their heels. The chase led over fences and through backyards. Both constables managed to escape. When reinforcements arlived, the house had been vacated.
