STUDENTS STRIKING THROUGHOUT SPAIN
DE RIVERA’S EFFIGY IS TORN TO SHREDS. Sun Cable. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 15. The Daily Afail correspondent at Saint Jean do Lirz, states that the university students’ strike continues almost throughout Spain. It was accompanied by collisions with the police Aladrid, Barcelona and Seville. Several demonstrators, including girl students, were injured. Alartial law may bo proclaimed in Granada. The effigy of General Prime do Rivera was torn to shreds at Aladrid. All Colleges Closed DICTATOR THREATENS HEAVY PUNISHMENT. Received Sunday, 11 p.m. MADRID Alarch, 16. General de Rivera has issued a communique that students’ demonstrations must cease. All university colleges will be closed immediately and students of all classes must return home. The guilty will be severely punished and the fathers of those under 18 years will be heavily fined. Fifty students are at present in prison.
