ECONOMIC SIDE OF CHANNEL TUNNEL
SUBJECT OF INQUIRY.
Received Monday, 2 a.m. LONDON, March 10.
The Daily Mail says that following on consultatibns with the leaders of the opposition parties, Mr, Baldwin is appointing a committee to consider the economic aide of the Channel tunnel project, consisting of prominent fhiaue•ers and business men.
The inquiry will cover a wide field, including the cost of the tunnel, the ■effect on trade, employment and existing communications. There is an optimistic feeling, odds the Mail, that the economic investigation will produce evidence strong enough to counteract any remaining military objection.
