OBITUARY.
ME JOSEPH LIGGINS, The death occurred yesterday of an old and highly respected colonist in the person of Mr Joseph Liggins, of Tokomaru, aged 78. Born at Measham in Derbyshire, Mr Liggins came to New Zealand with liis wife and fan ily of six young children main years ago, and upon the Manawatu Railway Company selling land at Tokomaru, aged 78. Born at Measrough state, which in its highly improved condition he held till his death. Flaxmilling was for many yeais his chief stand-by, but pedigree cattle and cultivation also occupied a great deal of his attention, the Ashlca herd of Freisians being most favourably known amongst breeders. A$ President of the Flaxmillcrs Association, vice-President of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, member and chairman of the Makerua Drainage Board and chairman of the Tokomaiu Dairy Company he did yeoman service to the farming community. Mrs Liggins and her sons—Charles Sam, Harry, and Joseph, together with the daughters, Mrs Williams, Mrs Garner and Mrs Jos. Smith, are left to mourn the loss of their father, and to these the sympathy of a large circle of friends will be extended.
The funeral took place at Palmer ton this afternoon.
