MR JOSEPH LIGGINS. The death occurred yesterday of a'i )ld and highly respected colonist in the person of Air Joseph Logins, :>f Tokomaru, aged 17. Born at Meastam in Derbyshire, Mr Liggins eam». to New Zealand with his wife and fan ily of six young children manj years ago, and upon the Manawatu Railway . Company selling land at Tokomaru, aged 78. Born at Measrough state, which in its highly improved condition he held till his death. Flaxinilling was for many yeais his chief stand-by, but pedigree cattle and cultivation also occupied a great deal of his attention, the Ashlea herd of Freisians being most favourably known amongst breeders. As President of the Flaxmillers Association, vice-President of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, member and chairman of the Makerua Drainage Board and chairman of the Tokomaru Dairy Company he did yeoman service to the farming, community. Mrs Liggins and her sons—Char.'e3 Sam, Harry, and Joseph, together with the. daughters, Mrs Williams, Mrs Gamer and Mrs. Jos. Smith, are left to mourn the loss of their father, and to these tho sympathy of a largo circle of friends will be extended. The funeral tock place at Palmerton this afternoon.
