The death is announced in a cable received from London this morning, of Sir Norman Rae, ex-president of the British Wool Federation. ,
The death has occurred, says a Press telegram from Dune'din to-day, of the Rev. John Ryley, aged 94, who was associated with the very early history of the Presbyterian Churcfh in New Zealand and was a missionary at Hampden in 1864.
Engineor-Conniandtr Sutton, cf H.M.S, Renown, Mias been promoted to the rank of captain, and LieutenantCommander Leach, of the same ship, has been promoted to commander, states a Press cable received from London this morning.
A large following, including many old settlers, attended the funeral of Mr John Perry, which took place yesterday morning, the interment being in the Levin cemetery. Before the cortege left, a service was conducted in St. Mary’s Church by the Rev. J. C, Davies. Subsequently 'the Yicar officiated at the graveside, where a service was also conducted by representatives of the Orange Lqdge. A great many beautiful wneaths were received, besides messages of sympathy, attesting the esteem in wOiieh the deceased was held. The pall-bear-ers were members of the JLodge.
