MARLBOROUGH BEATEN, 26—8. CARTERTON, Last. Night, After a poor exposition of the Rugby code Wairarapa easily defeated Marlborough in a Ranfurly Shield match. The challengers never looked like winners, though with occasional flashes they drove Wairarapa back. The weather was perfect though the sun was in the faces of the visitors in the second spell. The attendance was about :1000. The game ended: — Wairarapa 26 Marlborough 8 Mr. 11. .1. M'Kenzie referred the match. Still Another Field Goal! OAMARU Last Night. The Otngo touring team defeatoc North Ota go yesterday afternoon in ideal weather on a greasy ground by 7 points to nil. The visitors had the best of the first spell Leydon dropping a field goal soon after the start. Before the close of tho spell F. Donnelly kicked a penalty. Tho second half was very even and exciting. A hard fought game mostly of a forward nature ended without further score. .Tackman. a visiting player, was sent to hospital with a fracture of the left leg.
