Storm in the Teacup. A storm was aroused in the Conference by Mrs. Robertson 's cable to the Sydney Sun quoting Dr. Stanley as denouncing flappers. Indignant denials followed, Dr. Stanley asserting she never said it. Round-table sessions being closed to the press, it is not easy to check the statement directly; but Mrs. Robertson being an accredited delegate was present. Her notes show the statements as sent, but these probably were overemphasised by absence of context. Independent correspondents express little doubt that something of the kind was said, and point out that the occurrence illustrates the folly of barring sessions to the general press.
