PETROL EXPERIMENT WILL NOT LAST LONG.
A SYDNEY MAN’S OPINION. SYDNEY, May 22. Whether motorists should import their own petrol, as is done by the Canterbury (New .Zealand) Automobile Association, is the subject of a discussion in Sydney. Representative men disapprove of such action. They argue that the price of petrol is not unreasonable in this country; the charges merely have the freight added, while the distributors work all hours and every day of the week for the, convenience of motorists. One prominent commercial man, Mr Boyd Edkins, declared that the Canterbury experiment would not last long. Mr Murdoch, M.L.C., expressed the opinion that Canterbury mijst be getting cheap Mexican spirit.
