MANAWHENUA TO PLAY CANTERBURY ON JULY 18th.

(By Telegraph —Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

At a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union, a challenge was received from Hawke’s Bay for the Ranfurly Shield. Mr S. P. Wilson: I move that' we accept the challenge, and pray we will be aide to play it. The motion was carried.

Other challenges accepted wore: Wairarapa, for July 18th; Manawhehua, August 11th. The Chairman pointed out that South Canterbury had put iu th-e first claim for the challenge match. , It was decided to write to that Union, pointing out that it would be very hard for Canterbury to fix a date prior to July 18th.
