LAMB VALUES ADVANCE
LATEST EXPORT PRICES,
BRIGHT FARMING FUTURE
Thy season of remarkably buoyant prices for fat stock for export has received a further uplift in the increased quotations for exportable lamb announced by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board.
The quotations represent a rise of one farthing on those of a week ago, and according to the manager of the Auckland branch of a large stock and station mercantile concern, prices now being offered in New Zealand for lamb are the highest that have obtained during the season. “They are, in fact, exceptionally good for this time of the year, and bear most excellent comparison with those ruling for the past few seasons, ’ ’ he said.
By this time, most of the season’s lambs have passed out of the hands of the producers through earlier sales to exporters, but it is obvious that such high values must benefit the industry as a whole. It is significant that the quotations published yesterday refer to Canterbury and Southland, lamb, and serve as a reminder that the southern districts are later in their season, than the warmer north.
