HOUSE BURNED WITH CONTENTS.

A 6-roomed house, owned by Mrs J. Davies and occupied by B. Nickalls, was totally destroyed by fire at 9.30 this mbrning. Practically no furniture or personal effects were saved. The house was situated outside the borough, and no high-pressure water was available, the brigade thus being helpless. The insurances arc at present, uuascer.tainable. GARAGE AND SIX OARS DESTROYED. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WHAKATANE, This Day. The most spectacular fire that has occurred in Whakatano for years completely destroyed the R.M. Garage last’ evening. The building, which was a large wooden one, contained six cars, ail'of which were destroyed, together with stocks of tyres, oils .and tools. The brigade made a good save-of the adjoining buildings. The cars owned I.v the R.M. Company, the Inspector of Machinery, Messrs Sargobd, Son and Evvcn, and E, W.. Beckett were insured, but those owned by Rudely and Si pane and'Peargram were not insured. Details of Ihe insurance on. the building are not available.
