Charles King (3 ( J), was sentenced to six months imprisonment at the police court on a charge of having robbed Hugo Brandstedt of a gold watch and chain valued at £5. Accused had been only four days out of gaol after serving a sentence of seven years. Chief Detective Hammond said King had been in gaol nearly all his life and he was going back there for fourteen months as he was a prosioner out on probation. He had served a sentence in England and Australia for crimes, including house breaking and since he had been sentenced in New Zealand, he had escaped from custody.
