THEFT OF RING.
TAXI-DRIVER COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. (By Telegraph —Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The theft of a diamond ring valued at £750 from Jenness and Partridge, jewellers, by Trevor Leonard Richard Cunningham (2H), taxi driver, was related in Court to-day. Evidence was given that accused went to complainant’s shop where he stated his name was Lowry, a racehorse owner. He was shown a ring which lie took to the door presumably to see it better and then ran away with it. Accused was seen later in the afternoon by Detective Jarrold shewing the ring to some one in a bar. When accused saw the detective he put the ring down one of his socks. He pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence in the Supreme Court.
