DRIFTER STRANDED.
ON SUNKEN WRECK OF BATTLESHIP. REMARKABLE INCIDENTS IN MANOEUVRES. {By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 299. A remarkable incident occurrred during the Atlantic Fleet manoeuvres in Cromarty Firth. The drifter Billow was towing a target when she fowled a \vreck of the warship Natal which was blown up during the war. ’The tide receded and left the Billow almost high and dry, A salvage gang was working by the aid of searchlights when the Billow, without iwarning, slid off the Natal. She almost turned turtle and then, in a surprising manner, regained an even keel. The whole of her sea-booted crew were thrown into the water and four who were unable to scramble aboard were rescued oy a picket boat from the battle cruiser Hood.
A gale sprang up so fierce 'that the manoeuvres had to be postponed.
