Plight-Lieut. Worsley (Britain), on a Supermarine monoplane, was second His time was 272.2 miles an hour.
Plight-Lieut. Kinnead (Britain), on & Gloster biplane, abandoned the race the third lap, in which he averaged 291 miles an hour. All the Italians abandoned their attempts. The sea was tranquil, with a light wind blowing.
The Schneider Cup race was postponed on Sunday till the following day owing to a gale. It is held over a eourse of 300 kilometres (188.8 miles) in a triangle off the Lido, a few miles from Venice. ' Last year the trophy was won by an Italian, Major de Berxiardi, who made 246.4 miles per hour. Each year since' 1913, when the contest was established, the speed has increased, ranging from 40 to over 285 miles an hour. «
