LEVIN FIRE BOARD.

QUARTERLY MEETING.

The quarterly'meeting of the Levin Fire Board was held at the Station last evening, when there were present: Messrs F. E. Parker (in the chair), \V. Jenson, A. Clerke, and the Secretary (Mr F. P, Walkley). Leave of absence was granted to Messrs F. G. Cray and J. C. Milnes.

The Secretary’s action in purchasing 000 feet of hose as recommended by the Board was confirmed.

The resignation of ' Fireman J. Gill, owing to leaving the district, was accepted.

The Superintendent reported as follows: The Brigade is at full strength. One member resigned owing to his leaving the district, and one elected in his place. There are two men now on the waiting list. I would like the Board to approve of two messengers. The motor lias been overhauled and is now running better. The alarm system is working satisfactorily. The decking over pit needs renewing;' owing to dampness and want of ventilation it is now unsafe. The usual practices and meetings have been held, the attendances being good. There was one fire during this quarter, when wo had a smart turn out, a good muster and a good save. The water pressure was very good. I had (he pleasure of attending the Feilding Brigade, annual re-union held in their lire station, the Mayor, niembers of their Fire Board, councillors and visiting firemen from Palmerston North, Marton, Foxton, and Levin were present. I also attend-, ed the Palmerston North re-union held at their lire station. A snooker tournament has been held at the station amongst members and honorary members, which was keenly contested and caused quite a lot of interest.
