The Seamen’s Union executive con- , siderod the report of the sub-commit-tee which has been inquiring into allegations against divers and others consisting of the intimidation of loyal - officials and members’ unconstitutional conduct, after which it expelled Davies ! and branch secretaries Bond, Phillips, Nelson and Hampin, also Cotter, organizer of the catering department, two branch delegates and three members. Davies attended the meeting and resigned after hearing the charges. 'The executive expressed confidence in Havelock Wilson and accepted the conference’s decision of August Ist to lend a non-political miners ’ union £IO,OOO. A 'member proposed to initiate a testimonial to Mr Havelock Wilson, the Union granting £SOOO to it. Mr Wilson, however, begged the executive not to discuss the proposal as the time was inappropriate.
